Securing USA

fluorspar supply

The critical mineral no one talks about - until supply runs out.

Fluorspar is listed as a critical mineral in the USA. There is no substitute for it's vital industrial applications, and it cannot be recycled. it is 100% imported, and there are no other fluorspar operators in North America, making it in extremely short supply.

Ares owns the only permitted fluorspar mine in the United States out of Spor Mountain, Utah, and we are ready to supply domestic industries right now - production launches September 2026.

Key applications of fluorspar

Acidspar
The primary fluorspar application is Acidspar (85–90% of U.S. consumption), which is used to produce hydrofluoric acid (HF) for downstream use in lithium-ion batteries, refrigerants, fluoropolymers, uranium enrichment and aluminum smelting.

Metspar
Metspar is the high-volume industrial grade of fluorspar (10–15% of U.S. consumption) used as a flux in steel and aluminum, and in ceramics, glass, and cement production.

A market in deficit

As of July 2026, the USA remain 100% net-import reliant, importing c.418k tons in 2025.

Current global consumption is 8.5m tons. Projected demand for fluorspar is 13m - 17m metric tons by 2035, with acidspar accounting for the majority of growth. Western Fluorspar recognizes this looming supply shortage.

The global fluorspar market is predicted to grow at the CAGR 4.6%

Demand increase due to high growth sectors and the global clean energy transition.

DISCLAIMER:
Companies typically rely on comprehensive feasibility reports on mineral reserve estimates to reduce the risks and uncertainties associated with a production decision. Historically, situations where the issuer decides to put a mineral project into production without first establishing mineral reserves supported by a technical report and completing a feasibility study have a higher risk of economic or technical failure, though some industrial mineral ventures are relatively simple operations with low levels of investment and risk, where the operating entity has determined that a formal prefeasibility or feasibility study in conformance with NI 43-101 and 43-101 CP is not required for a production decision.
