Our Fluorspar
Lumps Plant

What is the Lumps Plant?

ARES has just launched the USA's first Fluorspar Metallurgical Lumps Plant - a processing plant where fluorspar is converted into clean, uniformly sized briquettes, or lumps, ready for industrial applications.

Located in Delta, Utah, our Lumps Plant was completed in July 2026 and it has now entered the commissioning phase. Learn more here.

First product from the Lumps Plant is expected to enter the U.S. market in Q3, 2026.

What is Metallurgical Grade Fluorspar?

Metallurgical-grade fluorspar, or metspar, is a critical industrial mineral that supports some of the USA's largest industries.

Metspar generally contains 60-85% calcium fluoride (CaF₂). Although it can range up to 90% CaF₂, the product has lower purity requirements and broader tolerance ranges. Its primary applications include:

Steelmaking – Acts as a flux to remove impurities, improve slag fluidity, lower melting temperatures, and produce cleaner, higher-quality steel.

Cement manufacturing – Speeds up the calcination process, allowing kilns to operate more efficiently at lower temperatures.

Aluminium production – Higher-purity acid-grade fluorspar is used to produce aluminium fluoride (AlF₃), a key ingredient in the aluminium smelting process.

Metspar prices currently range from approximately US$350–$520/MT.

For decades, the U.S. has relied entirely on imported metspar, leaving one of the world's largest manufacturing economies dependent on foreign supply.

Metspar accounts for approximately 35-40% of global fluorspar production. The remaining global production is higher-purity acid-grade fluorspar.

These two distinct processing plants serve various fluorspar-reliant industries, with the flexibility to shift production output based on market demand.

Lumps Plant Now Commissioning

The Lumps Plant is now fully operational and in its commissioning phase. Comprehensive testing is underway, assessing product quality, material flow, and key operating systems. Watch the plant in action:

A Customer Pipeline

ARES has a MOU with CREMER ERZKONTOR North America to market and sell its initial metspar production of approximately 50,000 ton per year for five years.

With metspar prices typically exceeding US$500 per tonne, this represents a potential gross product value of US$25 million+ annually at that indicative price, providing ARES with an established route to market.

DISCLAIMER:
Companies typically rely on comprehensive feasibility reports on mineral reserve estimates to reduce the risks and uncertainties associated with a production decision. Historically, situations where the issuer decides to put a mineral project into production without first establishing mineral reserves supported by a technical report and completing a feasibility study have a higher risk of economic or technical failure, though some industrial mineral ventures are relatively simple operations with low levels of investment and risk, where the operating entity has determined that a formal prefeasibility or feasibility study in conformance with NI 43-101 and 43-101 CP is not required for a production decision.
